BAIE ROUGE

BAIE ROUGE
Original Painting, 2025 / Mixed Medium on Panel, Encaustic, Gloss Finish / Framed in Maple Hardwood / Size: 20 × 20 × 2 Inches (30 x 30 cm)
ABOUT THE WORK
This series came together mid-summer, when time slows and the work is allowed to unfold at its own pace.
Each piece evolved gradually, shaped by layers and time: while babies slept, when the heat kept us indoors, or in the hush that settles across a house at the end of day.
Though not created with a specific place in mind, the paintings began to carry a sense of somewhere—something tangible and quietly known. The titles —Baie Rouge, Baie Vert, Baie Bleu—name each piece through color and feeling, a loose mapping of high summer.
A way of holding the fullness of the season.

This piece is part of Le Archive—a living collection of works created outside of formal releases. Made during quiet studio hours, these paintings emerge intuitively, in between collections and commissions, offering a glimpse into the artist’s evolving practice.

INSIDE OTHER OCEANS
Soft, blurred layers of paint, wax, and etched marks evoke the quiet rhythm of water—figures drifting, dissolving, suspended between presence and absence. Shapes waver, caught in the push and pull of memory, as if seen through the shifting surface of the sea. These works hold the weightlessness of a dream, where movement and emotion blur into something felt more than seen, something just beyond reach.
In Other Oceans, aerial perspectives reveal figures adrift in abstract expanse. Each painting is a private labor—a forsaking of certainty, a quiet act of trust. These works are not made to answer, but to hold. To pause with what stirs beneath the surface. They are tangible expressions of the unseen—an offering shaped in the tension between what is felt and what is still becoming.
